Sunday Sermon Ann Arbor 11-21-10

The Parable of the Wedding Banquet

Tuesday November 16, 2010 (0)

Good morning everyone, the text for the sermon is taken from 1943 notebooks of Maria Valtorta, page 116.
Jesus says:
‘Be perfect, all of you whom I love with an exclusive love. Live as angels, you that make up my Court on earth.’

If to all the loving invitation is made to be perfect like my Father, for those I have chosen as my intimates and friends, this becomes a delicate command. To be my disciple—not in the vague sense which is applied to all Christians, but in the distinctive sense in which I called my Twelve ‘disciples and fiends’ — is a great honor, but it entails a great duty.

Minor perfection—that is, not to commit serious sins and to obey the law in its most emphatic rules—no longer suffices. One must reach the refinement of perfection, follow the Law as far as the slightest nuances—I would say practically to anticipate it with something more. Like the children who not only go toward their father’s house, walking alongside the one leading them, but who run forward festively, overcoming the weariness and obstacles of a rough path to get there more quickly, for their love spurs them on.

The house of your Father is in Heaven; love is what spurs you to overcome every difficulty in flight, to quickly reach Heaven, where the Father awaits you with his arms already open to embrace you. Therefore, my disciple should not only obey the law in the major aspects which I have imposed on all, but interpret my desire, even that which has not been expressed, that you do the maximum good you can, a desire which the lover understands, for love is light and knowledge.

Now I will explain to you two points in the gospel. One is from Matthew, and one, from Luke. In reality, they are a single parable, but it is expressed with a few differences. It should not cause astonishment that these differences are found in my evangelists. When they wrote those pages, they were still men—already chosen, but not yet glorified. They could thus commit oversights and errors, in form, but not in substance. Only in the glory of God is there no longer error. But to reach it they still had to struggle and suffer a lot.

Would Jesus Recognize You as a Follower?

Good morning everyone. It’s nice to see everyone here. The text for the sermon is from Volume 2, The Poem of the Man-God. Jesus is speaking. Jesus is now coming from the fold, towards them. Tall, clad in white, surrounded by the apostles, followed by the shepherds and women. This is Volume 2, page 590.

“Peace to you all. If My coming here has served to establish the Kingdom of God among you, blessed be the Lord. If My coming here has served to make innocence shine, blessed be the Lord. If My coming here in time to prevent a crime serves also the purpose of giving three culprits the possibility of redeeming themselves, blessed be the Lord. Of all the many things on which this day induces us to meditate, and on which we shall be meditating while night falls to envelop in its darkness the joy of two hearts and the remorse of three others – and in its darkness it hides, as in a chaste veil, the joyful tears of the former and the bitter ones of the latter, which, however God sees – there is one thing which points out that there is nothing useless in what God gave as His Law.

Getting Stronger Than You Are Now

Sunday October 31, 2010 (0)

Good morning everyone. The text for the sermon is from the 1943 Notebooks of Maria Valtorta where Jesus is speaking on page 557.

Jesus says: Never as in this moment must I repeat to the one who represents me, Feed my lambs. Many of them have become wild. But it is not entirely their fault, and for this reason they arouse pity in Me. I had entrusted the to the powerful so that they would take care of them. I had already given so much to the powerful so that they would not want even more and be good to those subject to them, who are not linked to the powerful except by Gods mandate. In reality, they are Gods flock, Gods children, and they should be cared for with respect in consideration of the true King, the Eternal – whose people they are.

If Youre Still Mad Youre Prideful

Sunday October 24, 2010 (0)

Transcription begins here:
Good morning everyone. Good morning. The text for the sermon is from the ’43 notebooks, page 494, and Jesus says “Too often you do not turn your gaze to Him who is your providence. You put frills, often useless, on something and then say ‘We made this’. No, you are not the authors of it, rather you are often its destroyers, for you neutralize the fruits coming from a work when you do not destroy the work itself with your hands and your destructive minds. God gives you so much, He gives you everything which is useful and necessary for your flesh and blood, and for your minds and spirits, for all of this especially for what is aimed at the mind and the spirit you dig a lake, yes, a lake but it is a lake where the clear waters of God stagnate and become corrupted because they’re placed in contact with so many other things, and exposed to all invasions. You have thus made knowledge measurelessly multiplied, but not elevated towards God, into a danger for yourselves. And also religion, which you have wanted to dress up in the frills of so many useless things, analyze with a human lens and degrade by making it a formula and not a way of life. It’s always the same reproach which I must apply to you – you have believed yourselves to be equal or even superior to God, and you have fallen into works not of the children of God but only of reasonable animals. The super reasonable ones of the earth, but humanly reasonable, and it is already a great deal when you are reasonable and respect yourselves to the point of saying ‘Let’s see about acting with a view towards tomorrow’. Most of the time you think only of today, and of making today a carousal for your flesh, loved exceedingly by you. Not even when you’re in the midst of the torments of punishment do you emerge from this unhealthy euphoria of yours, but rather all the more you wish for enjoyment and the life of brutes intent only on sating hunger and senses. And between one form of enjoyment and another, you deride God, in whom you no longer believe, except to curse Him afterwards or to entreat Him when you suffer. Why? What do you expect? That is not the way help is obtained from God. I am for those who are honest and faithful, even if they are weak I forgive and assist them. I am not for the mockers and the deniers who know how to take their share and give my children only pain and torment. And you the first among my children fortify your heart by holding your mouth to the mystical fount of my torn breast, as you are my herald and more than a herald my vicar on earth. He who represents the lamb and has the lamb’s heart and word, so you shall be a new Christ in pain and in destiny. How much pain is already in the chalice which is approaching, and it is of no use to you to have already drunk so much from it, and to have lived as a just man. It is of no use to you because the more you drink from it the more pain fills it, because that pain is distilled and squeezed out by the force hostile to you, which, unable to bite Christ, bites the flesh of His creatures. And what creature is more of a creature of Mine than you, who are meek and just, who are evangelical like my John? Like the beloved one, establish yourself in Heaven to the point of being enraptured by the ardor of contemplation, for the hour of pain is closer and closer and you need to be filled with contemplation to be able to undergo the passion without yielding. Remain the light of the world in My place, even if the darkness builds up upon you to crush you, even when falling hold up My cross which is light, even when dying make the voice be heard which speaks from heaven by way of you, my exemplary servant. You have wept and it has not helped for you to know the secret of Fatima. Your care for the world has turned against you like the care used with someone obsessed, but it doesn’t matter. My Mother is with you and I am with Her. We are close to the great voices and the little voices that speak in My name and consume themselves so that the voice of Christ will still sound on this earth, swarming with demons. Be blessed, great and small bearers of the Word. We will win out against Satan, I am telling you so, and in the hour of victory my light itself shall be your light, which shall make you shine like new suns.”

I was thinking about what it means to be a disciple and how you can have an effect on people. And I know some of you can’t imagine having a great effect, because you can’t see yourselves yet as dynamic powerful lighted beings. Even if that’s never, perhaps that’s never, entered your consciousness, that you could be such. But Jesus said to His disciples that you’re the light of the world. Well, if that’s true then you have to be shining, and if that’s shining you have to be conscious that you’re shining, then you have to know that you are, you can’t pretend that you are, you can’t not see any light and then think you’re the light of the world. There has to be something to root down into your flesh in an obvious state, into your senses. If you’re the light then you should be able to see it. If you’re not seeing it, where is it? It’s not in your imagination. Until you stretch into being more than just an animal with supersensible reason, like Jesus is talking about, you’ll be of no use to anyone, really. Your love will be meager, your thoughts will be puny, your energy will be contracted, and you’ll not give very much, and you’ll have confined your giving to those you decided to love and you will have ignored the rest of your brothers and sisters. But your love should be universal, your love should be ‘un-boundaried’, un-confined, by your little group, or your little family, or your little club, or your little patriarchy of culture. The punishment for the world is that the humans, it’s not going to be the flood or the fire, the punishment now is that the humans wanted their own darkness and it’s swarming with darkness. And so they’ve attracted the demons who are celebrating and dancing on the heads of the humans here. And it is a rare person that doesn’t have them effectively tormenting them. Anywhere there is a disturbance, or an intense fear or animosity or hatred there are demons dancing on that person…and winning. So that’s why Jesus says the earth is swarming with demons. Now, if you had sight, you’d see them. If you really had sight you’d see them coming in and out of people and taking them over when they’re in a bad mood, and taking them over when they’re in fear, and when they’re in anger, or just lulling themselves in their addictions you’d see the demons running in and out – and whispering things to you like a little thing on your shoulder, coming over your face…if you had sight. Now whether you’re a good person or not, doesn’t seem to matter. They have no respect for you, they’ll come and influence you whenever and wherever. If you want to be ignorant and without sight, you will not know they’re influencing you. If you could see what they were saying, you would, like a salesperson that comes to the door to sell you timesharing in Arizona, you would be going ‘Well, NO!’ You’d just like, NO! What?! Beachfront property in Nevada? No! It would be that obvious to you, how ridiculous that sales job is, and yet, when you don’t see it, it completely works you and you completely fall for it. Now, you are really dreaming if you think you’re just a good person and that’s all you are; because you’re a bundle of desires, and a bundle of opinions, and a bundle of unseen and unknown areas. Most of you do not know yourselves well at all. Oh, you know you like this kind of tea, and you know you don’t want to be talked to in the morning, and stuff like that, ridiculous stuff. Ridiculous idiosynchrosies that have nothing to do with how God envisioned a human being – nothing at all. When God envisioned a human being, it looked like Adam and Eve before the fall, that looks exactly like Jesus and Mary in perfected state – that’s a human being. One with God without any malice or desire for anything other than God, that’s what it looks like – Jesus and Mary. If you don’t look like that, you haven’t been doing any work, and I don’t mean to have the same long hair and beard, or the robes thing. I’m talking about that purity of their being shining through, that clarity, that total dedication to the one who created them. Now, let’s count the ways that you are dedicated – you’re dedicated to your body: primarily and foremost, that’s your greatest dedication. The body screams, you feed it; the body screams, you indulge it; the body wants something, you just put a pacifier in it. Whatever the body wants, it gets, because you don’t tell it what to do, it tells you what to do. So now you’re enslaved to your body, and your body is God, and whatever your body feels you do, and run, run after it. The second thing is your emotions: and I’m going to describe these things to you so you know what your work is, I’m going to outline your work for you – body, mind, and emotions. That’s your work, those are your obstacles. Those are where your ego is invested, those are where your attachments are so big they form walls between you and God and they form walls between you and your brothers and sisters. You’re emotions, you just want what you want when you want it, you react because you can, you get mad at the slightest feather of an insult. You allow yourself to indulge every desire, your belly is swirling with desires, and appetites, and fears, and worries; that’s what happens in most people’s bellies. Your emotions are reactive and wild; your feelings are clear and have integrity and are real. Your emotions are a disturbance in the force – wild, negative, destructive – every one of them. If you allow those, they soil the house and disturb the atmosphere around you and mess up your relationships, when you let those run wild. I want this, I don’t like that, I don’t like you, you know, just reacting all the time to everything. You need to get a grip on that and discipline it. These are the way you manage your system so that God can function through you. And then your thinking: does it go everywhere? Is it just so proud of itself, that it can have thought streams that have no creative function whatsoever? It has thought streams that don’t actually enable anybody to grow, that don’t bless anybody, or heal anybody, or call God in? It’s so proud of itself for it’s thoughts, just synapsing on everything – wild thinking. There’s demons fanning it, going ‘what about this?’ and you say ‘oh yeah, I know about that’ and ‘what about this?’ and you go ‘oh yeah, I know about that’ just bloating up like a huge blimp, like a prideful blimp up in the head. As if you can understand anything without God helping you; as if you could perceive anything that God doesn’t want you to perceive. But you play in the dust with scraps and are so proud of them, and polishing the scraps. If it wasn’t for God you couldn’t think, if it wasn’t for God you couldn’t feel anything, if God didn’t create you you wouldn’t have a mind at all. But you use it selfishly rather than use it to, like a prism, that magnifies God, that expresses God – the highest thing you can be is an expression of God. To express what God thinks; to express what God feels; that’s your highest goal, there is no other goal for a created being. If you have another one, you are twisted and weird. I consider you abnormal, if you have another goal than that. And I consider it that way, but I’m going to say Jesus and Mary consider it that way, and God considers you unrecognizable unless you express God, which would be very simple. You’re created in the image and likeness of God, you better act that way! To act any other way is to be some kind of crazy – a distortion of the vision God had for you, and the freedom God gave you. I’d like to make it simple, if the thought you’re having isn’t blessed by God, don’t think it. Stop it! That takes discipline, and it takes guts. What are you going to think, if you don’t have any idea of what you’re going to think, because you haven’t figured it out yet. Well maybe you need to get closer to God so God can give you the next thing to think. What are you going to feel? Only what God blesses, which would be very consistent with the way God feels. You going to get mad at somebody? Jealous of somebody? You are off your kilter! You are way outside God when you do that. You need a momentary satisfaction? Some kind of an indulgence you think you need out of fear? And out of anger? You’re way outside God when you do that. God doesn’t have any lack of peace in the moment, so what’s the matter with you? Who sold you on the idea you should be worried? Or you should be desperate? The demons sell those ideas. And you bought them. Now, you might hear me in a funny way, and I’ll tell you very clearly, there are many influences over you and your job is to decide. You’re the chooser. You have the power to choose. If you go numb, you have already chosen the darkness. If you go ‘I don’t know, and I don’t really see that’ then you went numb and you’re in the darkness. You have to be conscious to make choices. If you choose not conscious, you just gave up and the demons will run ragged through you. They’ll have a riot inside you and clapping and partying in you. And you will go down. Now some of you are acting spiritual, but you have demons in your house. I know you don’t want to hear this, but I don’t really mind. I’m not particularly concerned with what you want to hear, and what you don’t want to hear, I’m not one of those ministers that needs you to be pleased so you like me. I don’t care if you like me, you know why? Any guesses? Because God already likes me. So I don’t need you, but you need me to tell you the truth. And if you don’t like it, it’s a free country – stay away from me. It is not popular to be told you have to get rid of this, and this, and this….
You know, what do you want me to get, the sauve out, and rub it into your back so you feel good? There is so much garbage that you have to get rid of, I’m not going to lie about it. Because you’re very undisciplined in your feelings, and in your body, and in your mind. Because of that God can’t get a good solid space to be in you because there’s always these competing elements. And until God resides in you wholly and in integrity, solidly, and committed, you won’t be much use to you or anyone else. You’ll be a fickle servant with a lot of prideful lip service about your love for God but you can’t even manage your own house, you can’t even discipline yourself or say no to a bad habit because you’re like… weak. And I know, you’ve heard this and some of you are just gonna suffer it, just gonna take it… I’m not trying to torture you, I’m trying to encourage you. Get a grip on what you care about and start doing it, and tough it out. There is going to be pain when you make decisions. What is the pain of saying no to this and yes to this? There is a tearing, isn’t there? Like I can’t do my little sodas, and my coffee, there’s a little tearing, and you go ‘I want it’ and ‘I want it 5 times a day’ and every time that time comes I go ‘urghhh’ there is this tearing. Whenever you don’t criticize somebody, you’re not going to do it anymore, but you’ve had a really bad habit of it, and it wants to, but you go..NO! There is a tearing because you can’t do it because you said you can’t. Nobody is making you, you make you, we don’t have any control over you whatsoever. Get that through your heads. I’m your advocate, and your fan at the same time. I’m clapping in the stands for your progress and I’m advocating your change when you listen to me at all. I’ve no control over your bad habits, at all, or your thinking, or your body, or what you do and don’t do, decisions you make. I have no control. I don’t expect to have any, it’s not my job. My job is to control mine; and I do. I so do – watch me and you’ll learn something. Why do you think I’m standing up here? Because Jesus put me here as the example for you. I’m not a hypocrite just saying stuff and not doing it. I do everything I say. And my body and my head and my emotions do exactly what I say. Why? Because that’s what I want. Do you see there is no doubt in my mind that it won’t do what I tell it to do? It will. Now some of you have come to a stage of our relationship with the Teachers or relationship with the Priests where you are actually willing to obey – now that will be a great gift to you. It’s like a support, like a magic carpet ride, taking you into God. But anytime we use the word obedience feels like it’s going to be a restriction, and like a burden, like a heavy duty sadness on your life to actually obey somebody. But to me, obedience is my freedom to stay in God. For you, obedience is like a, maybe, a bad vacation and you’re thinking about going on it, but you’re not sure the weather is going to be good, you might have to get insurance, like vacation insurance against that obedience training. You know, you go through that cycle of many months of testing to see if we have the integrity, testing to see if we’re real, testing to see if our love is clear, testing to see if we’re not selfish – all that crap that you have those massive testing programs for the Teachers and the Priests. And we pass them, and you still sit there and don’t obey. After all those testings, you don’t just give up and go ‘Okay, just guide me along’ – we’d love to but we have to have a willing mind and a willing body and a willing feeling state to be able to do that. And even when you say yes, ‘I want that’, we start guiding you and you breathe deep, and give it a time out, which means you leave for a couple of weeks to teach us a lesson, don’t tell me what to do, in other words, translation. And I go, wow, you say you want to be led but then you make sure you’re not led, you make sure our hands are tied and we can’t help you. Why do you do that? You say yes but then you say no all in the same action. God appointed priests to be your mediator, they’re above you, they’re between you and God, they’re way above you. Now your average priest is a pedestrian and has no idea who they are and have never done the kind of work I’m discussing here. They have never been taught by someone who watches this kind of work we’re doing. How do I know that? I’ve talked to many of them and they still have their bad habits, they still have their wild thoughts and wild emotions, they still have lack of obedience, they’re still corrupt in many ways, they have demons running in and out of their house. They haven’t changed. They’re not transformed, they’re not lighted beings. Now maybe one or two of them are, so I’ll give you those exceptions, actually, some of them are, but it’s a very rare number. The rest are virtually untaught, untrained, and undisciplined in the science of God. And that is not a head science, because they have more knowledge about the texts and the language than I do, and thank God they do because that keeps me real clear that it has nothing to do with ‘brainiac’ function. It has nothing to do with languages and translation and theology – which I disdain with every part of me. Because that’s just food for another piece of pride to jack up somebody’s mind. I know nothing except God, that’s what I teach. I’m not proud of my head, not proud of my body, not proud of my emotions. I’m proud of God – very simple. If you are really created in the image and likeness of God like God said, then that’s all you could ever be, that’s the only goodness you will ever have, and it is more than infinitely enough. Anything else comes of evil. Any specialties that God doesn’t give you is Ego. Now is that tough – sorry. What did Jesus say? Sell all that you have if you’re going to follow me. He didn’t say keep all your crap and then come and follow me – keep all your opinions and concepts, keep all your fears, keep your prejudices and your anger, keep your pride, and then, come and follow me. Doesn’t that sound weird? Of course. You have to let go of all of it to follow Him truly. It’s not about what church you like or what building you go in, this is the way you follow Jesus, there is no other way, and He’ll say ‘Go Home’ if you don’t do it that way. And we won’t give you much unless you do it this way. How that translates for us in our Order, we won’t count on you and we see that you’re not doing anything and we know that you’re probably not wanting to so we don’t count on you, we’ll love you, totally love you, we’re totally loving with you, but we’re totally going to not avoid your ‘No’ We will not avoid your ‘No’ even if you’re not saying no we see the no and I won’t avoid it, I will acknowledge it, I will honor it, and I will respect it and I will still love you. But don’t think for one minute that we don’t see right into your soul. Don’t’ even think that, don’t even try that. We were trained by really good teachers, not like what you know – you don’t know these kind. So, this is training, for what? To be sons and daughters of God, not a little plaque, but you’re shining and you’re in love and you’re peaceful. Without that you’re not a son or daughter of God – you’re unrecognizable to God until that happens. God doesn’t know you, remember Jesus said all these people say yes, yes, I did this in your name and this in your name and He’s going to say ‘I don’t know you’ What is the signature of God or Jesus being able to know you? That you are love personified, love in manifestation. You love your body, you don’t worship it, you love your mind, because you make it like God, you love your heart because you make it feel what God wants to feel. You love your life and everybody around you, and it’s an active love, it isn’t philosophical. It’s active. You do stuff, you get off your butt and do stuff for people. You move your body as a servant to do things for people. And if you can’t do that, you’re in lip service, you’re not really a disciple yet, you don’t know how to give yet. And you know what I’ve noticed about people who don’t know how to give, they’re still mad, they’re still really mad at how they were treated, so they’re really prideful. Mad and pride go together. If you’re mad, you’re prideful. Why are you prideful? Because it didn’t go the way you wanted it to go. And who says it didn’t go the way it should have gone? Who says? Who says you in your limited understanding it shouldn’t’ have gone that way. Really? Are you sure? Are you sure you didn’t deserve way more than that? Are you sure? Because I’m not so sure, if you still have this angry attitude that it shouldn’t have been worse for you to just humble that pride of yours. You think you don’t deserve all the stuff that happened to you? If you’re still prideful you deserved worse – just to humble that crap out of you. That you’re a Child of God and not this big person that you think you are. Want to talk about humility? Take your pain as a gift from God and stop reacting to it. Offer it up as your gift to take it with love, to take it in peace, to suffer it without complaining at all, without gnarling and scraping against it. You want to talk about heroes of love? That’s what they do. They suffer things with a good attitude and they offer that sacrifice up to God as a gift to God to help Jesus in His salvation plan, in His redemption of other people, they try to be just one little fraction of a percent like Jesus in their offering up painfor Him – and for their brothers and sisters. So have I outlined the whole path for you? What are you going to do? Are you going to go on it with us, or sit back in the stands and watch the ones that do it? By your pride won’t let you do anything, your pride won’t let you give, because you’re too scared, or too angry. I see it like that, when nobody does anything. I know they’re mad and they’re prideful. I don’t care what you say, I see it. So ask yourself, what do you have to be prideful about and what do you have to be mad about, do the inventory, write it out, write all those things out, and you’ll see this disease on paper. You’ll see your disease on paper – write it out! All the things you’re mad about, all the things you resent, all the things you’re proud about, that’s your disease. You just wrote your story. That’s what has to be burned on the altar to come into union with Jesus and Mary.

The Parable of the Sower

(0)

Sermon recorded 10-03-10 in Seattle, WA

Good morning everyone. The text for the sermon is the Poem of the Man-God Vol. 2 page 196. Jesus says Listen, and perhaps you will understand better how the same action can bear different fruits. A sower went out to sow. He owned many fields of various kinds. He had inherited some from his father, on which his carelessness had allowed thorny plants to proliferate. Other fields had been purchased by him: he had bought them from a neglectful man and he had left them as they were. In other fields there were many intersecting roads, as the man loved comfort and did not like to travel a long way when going from one place to another. Finally, there were some fields, the closest to his house, which he had looked after to have a pleasant sight in front of his house. They were free from stones, thorns, couch-grass and so on.

So the man took his sack of seed-corn of the best quality, and began to sow. The seed fell on the good soft soil, which had been ploughed, weeded, fertilized, in the fields near the house. It was spread in the fields with many roads and paths, which divided them into small portions, and caused also the fertile soil to be covered by ugly arid dust. Some of the seed fell on the fields where the foolishness of the man had allowed the thorny plants to proliferate. The plough had turned them upside down, it looked as if they were not there, but they were, because only fire, the radical destructor of weeds, prevents them from growing again. The last seed fell on the fields which he had recently bought and had left as they were without ploughing them and without removing all the stones, which had sunk into the ground forming a hard pavement on which no plant could take root. After scattering all the seed, he went back home and said: Very well. All I have to do is wait for the the harvest. And he was delighted because as months went by, he saw the corn come up thick in the fields near the house and grow. Oh what a beautiful sea.
